Hello friends, it’s been a while! It’s been a wonderful summer so far. So much has transpired in the last few weeks, one thing being that my family and I took a 17 day road trip across the country last month and it was absolutely ah-mazing. We saw so much of this beautiful country and our spirits were thoroughly rejuvenated. There’s nothing like travel for renewing the mind, spirit, body and soul. I basically took a mini work hiatus during travel time with the fam and was able to fully dedicate myself and my energy to enjoying each moment. Fortunately, the way I have set up my business has allowed me to be able to take these necessary breaks and I swear, it’s part of what helps me to stay motivated to continue creating, and building my business. I’ve returned from vacation fully motivated, and full of new designs, ideas and projects to implement and share with you guys over the next few months. In the meantime, hope you enjoyed a few snaps from our time in New Orleans. :)

Essentials for a lazy Saturday . . .
The close of Spring Break is slowly approaching for our household. We thoroughly enjoyed the time off… at least I know I did. Not having to wake up at the butt-crack of dawn every morning + force the little ones out of bed has been a treat in itself. We celebrated Reston’s 11th birthday with a trip to San Diego @ the top of the week. Legoland + Sea World were our destinations. Everyone had a great time, and of course, I relished the time away, along with the change of scenery. The kids were sick for 2 days, and there were school projects to complete, but things have settled back down and it’s Saturday. I’ve got tons of stuff to do, but I plan to ease into it. I hope you all have a fab Saturday, and are able to spend time doing something you love.
Hail + raindrops were on display today . . .
It’s sunny out now, but we had a wonderful 10 minutes or so of rain this afternoon. It even hailed. Rain is inspiring to me. It rained so hard and the drops were so big and beautiful, I just had to snap a photo to share with you. Happy Friday, guys!
Have a great weekend!!
Do you ever feel like you are walking blindly, or moving forward on a path that is unclear? As a reformed semi-control-freak, I find myself working to be at peace with this feeling often. In fact, I have been working through this feeling for the last few weeks. Most especially where it relates to my business. I tend to like to have a plan, a written list or thought map to follow. But what happens when your plan, list or thought map is interrupted by real life? What happens if you find yourself bombarded with so many ideas and no clear direction on which way to proceed? In times like these I have found it helpful to seek peace and quiet . . . a moment of regrouping if you will. It just so happens that my sister from another mister, Ashley Wilson of Sacred Rebel, has just created a free 3 Day Spirit Detox and a super dope post on why creative quiet time is a productivity booster + a definite necessity. (I love the timing of life sometimes.) I have already downloaded her Spirit Detox and and am setting aside the time to jump right in. Ashley covers a lot of key points about why it is important to detox, and best practices for doing so in her post. You can read more amazing brand strategy + content marketing tips at sacredrebel.co or click here for the full post. Ashley is amazing at what she does, and I know you will come away more knowledgeable than you were when you first visited her site!
Wednesday means we are half way through the week! It’s parent conference week at school for the kids. So that means a full week of 1/2 days for the kiddies. They love it, of course, but by the time I get home from dropping them off and running errands, its time to head back out to pick them up again. Translation: Mama ain’t gettin’ alot accomplished this week! I’m really trying to go with the flow, just seems there is a lot that needs to be taken care of before we get outta Dodge. Rob and I are heading up north for my annual Birthday Getaway later this week. I always look forward to and cherish these trips. It gives us a little time to reconnect and have new experiences on “foreign” soil in more relaxed atmosphere. And when we get back, guess what?! We will be hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year! I’m really looking forward to having family and friends over. I love November. This time of year just makes my heart sing.
Do you have any special plans for the holidays?
Sometimes this world is so hard to bear. How can so much beauty and love exist alongside so much hatred and anger? This world possesses an abundance of both emotions and the juxtaposition of them is sometimes overwhelming. The questions may never be answered, nevertheless, when I hear about the atrocities that are taking place all over this Earth, my heart just keeps asking why?
Sending up prayers + blessings for the people of Paris. Sending up prayers + blessings for the people of Syria. Sending up prayers + blessings for the beautiful women of Nigeria and the countless other humans who are being wronged on this earth #prayforparis #bringbackourgirls #prayforhumanity
While I haven’t used the term “best friend” since high school, there is never a bad time to celebrate your best friends, and closest confidants! Today happens to be June 8th, National Best Friend’s Day, and I was inspired to create this drawing because of it. True friendship is a gift, so reach out to your homegirls and tell them how much they mean to you! We don’t need a special day to do that now do we? :)

Heading out to our favorite Thai restaurant in LA this evening. We don’t get to go as often since we moved out of the city. I can’t wait to order my favorite crab fried rice. If you are ever in Hollywood, and want to try some amazing Thai food, try Torung on Hollywood Blvd. + Wilton.
