NYFW Quick Picks | J. Mendel :: Spring 2015

J.Mendel’s Spring 2015 collection showcased long flowing gowns as well as cropped, textured styles. The trend of incorporating influences typically found in the realm of sportswear is still going strong. Mendel’s influences were subtle and elegantly done with the use of bold color blocking in pinks, whites, yellows, blacks and reds. I loved the breadth of this collection. There were enough styles within it that it could easily carry you from day to evening, and the use of textures and prints helped to ground the line and add depth. ♥

Here are my NYFW Quick Picks from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2015 Ready to Wear show yesterday. Phillip Lim’s Spring ’15 collection was inspired by his recent home renovation, (during which, Lim spent most of the time working from his bedroom). The collection referenced quilted textures and thick undulating piping reminiscent of textures one might find on bedroom mattresses and elegant drapery. These references were incorporated into the collection in both elegant and organic ways. The color palette consisted of subtly textured cremes and taupes; there was elegant gold embroidery, tangerine cording, textured blacks and leather, forest greens, deep yellows, muted fuchsias and bright whites. The collection evoked an urban sporty sophistication. ♥
