Review:: Firmoo Prescription Sunglasses A few weeks go I was contacted by to receive a free pair of their glasses in exchange for a review on my blog. I was aware that there were online optical stores, but had never actually considered using one myself. My concerns being that my prescription could be wrong, I may not like the way the glasses looked on me once they were in hand, or that they may not fit properly. But because I rely heavily on my glasses, (I wear prescription glasses for reading + night driving, and prescription sunnies everyday) I am always on the market for a new pair of sunnies. So this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try out an online service. I was still apprehensive as I went into it, but ordering from Firmoo was actually very easy. The hardest part was figuring out how to read my prescription once I obtained it from my optometrist. Here’s how the process worked…

I went online to browse their selection of glasses, this probably took the most time because there were quite a few styles I liked and I had a hard time narrowing it down! However, Firmoo gives you the option of uploading your own picture so that you can get a more accurate view of what the glasses would look like on you. If you don’t want to do that, they have images of different model’s faces so that you can see what the glasses will look like as well. The website is well organized, and you can search by style, fabrication, size, color etc. Best of all, Firmoo’s prices are completely affordable. My last pair of glasses set me back $300+, and each time I purchase a pair (which is only when I am up for a discount via my insurance every 2 years) I have to be sure to make them last. Which, for someone who loves fashion, doesn’t leave much room for eyewear accessorizing options. The frames I selected from Firmoo (style F1009) were only $69. Because my prescription requires a prism lens, there was an added fee of $12.95, and standard shipping  is only $6.95. I was actually surprised that Firmoo offered the option of the prism lens, as my optometrist told me that most online companies do not. Once you select the frames you want, you must enter your prescription online. I was a little nervous about this part, because I did not totally understand how to read my prescription. However, once I had my prescription in hand, and had selected my frames, the whole ordering process took me about 15-20 minutes because I ended up calling my optometrist for some explanations as well as googling anything I had a question about. Firmoo also has information on their site to help you through the process and make sure you are inputting the correct information. I think the ordering process only took me longer because of my lack of knowledge about the prism lens prescription, but I was able to figure everything out within a relatively short time.

Here is a timeline of events::

  • Order placed:: August 20
  • Order Shipped:: August 31
  • Order Received:: September 5 All in all, my order was placed and items received in just under 3 weeks. Taking into consideration that the glasses come from China and that prism lenses take longer to manufacture, I am really pleased with the whole Firmoo experience. The glasses arrived neatly packaged in a hard case, which also included a soft drawstring pouch, cleaning cloth and tiny screwdriver. I love the frames and I think the quality is comparable to other glasses I have purchased through my optometrist. The ordering process was easy and their selection and prices are great. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to review a pair of Firmoo glasses and have already recommended Firmoo some of my friends and family. Disclosure:: I was offered a free pair of glasses from Firmoo in exchange for a review on my blog. Because the type of lens I ordered required a prism lens, I chose to pay out of pocket the $12.95 discounted price for my pair of glasses from Firmoo. Please note that all opinions expressed are my own and I received no monetary compensation.
