Sharing a few of the things that have added beauty to my life in some way this week . . . ♡

♥  I have a few trips out of state planned for this summer. If you are a ridiculous over packer like myself, you may find Shauna’s packing post as helpful as I did (plus you can enter a giveaway for free shoes!!!)

♥ Last week I attended the Connecting Women to Power Business Conference and had the pleasure of hearing one of my favorite life coaches, Rhonda Britten speak. Her book Fearless Living  arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I can’t wait to tackle it!!!

♥  These desktop and iphone wall papers will add a little bitta pretty to your tech life . . .

♥ I love Jasmine Dowling’s typography. She recently shared a little book she created that reminds me so much of the books I used to create before The LookBook Philosophy morphed into a blog… check it out here. Love her!

♥ Prop stylist, Joanna Lavén’s GORGEOUS Stockholm apartment is the PERFECT mix of modern, mid century and traditional. I hate to admit . .  I pinned every room, I mean, even her dishes were amazing!!

♥ If you wish the Disney Princesses would add a little more truth and color to their crew, check out the new tumblr of Jason Porath, former animator for Dreamworks. He created Rejected Princesses, for women “too awesome, awful or upbeat for the movies.”

♥ I LOVE this DIY happy hour marquee sign . . . if only I had the time to create it. . .

♥ I recently discovered Mima-Te, the first Mozambican upcycling brand, designed by twin sisters Nelly + Nelsa. Way to go girls!!!

Mood Board Monday | Moody Summer . . .

Hey guys! How was your weekend? Summer is officially here, according to the calendar. June 21st was the first official day of summer, and my Dad’s birthday! He is 70 now! I can’t believe it! I am so blessed to have been able to share another birthday with him. Life is so precious.

We have now entered our 2nd week of summer vacay. The kids started day camp today. They kept talking about how they didn’t want to go, but they need it so bad. And so does mama!! I haven’t really sat down to blog in a 2 weeks! I’m getting my work schedule back up and running and working on a few outside projects that I will be sharing with you shortly.

It looks like this is going to be a busy week. Our family is coming in from Texas this week. My sister and brother are renewing their wedding vows after 30 years of marriage this Saturday!! Count them . . . thirty years! I say that with complete and utter awe and admiration. What a milestone!!! I feel like a newborn baby as this September Rob + I will celebrate 13 years. A drop in the bucket in comparison, yet a milestone for us nevertheless!!

Last Saturday I had a really productive brunch\meeting with my friend Nikki and a graphic designer friend of hers that she introduced me to. (I love how God always provides the answers to questions I may be pondering or sitting on). She and I had been discussing my handbag line and I was sharing some frustrations with her while we were waiting for her friend to arrive. When he got there we all started talking and he basically confirmed that I should move forward with all the things I had just spoken to Nikki about. Without even knowing we had discussed them!! Ahhh! God is good. Confirmation is awesome. Especially since I have not been feeling my most confident in the steps I have been choosing to take moving forward with the line. ANYWAY, I said all of that just to remind you guys to remain open. The answers will come to you if you are open to hearing them. They may not come in the form or package you were expecting, but they will come to you.

And on that note I leave you with my Moody Summer mood board. I love the bright cheery colors balanced out by the moodiness of iced aqua, grey, charcoal and pastels.

Have you gotten confirmation on anything you have been grappling with lately?

Ballet Preljocaj: Les Nuits (The Nights) @ The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

Ballet Preljocaj Post

I’m excited to be attending Ballet Preljocaj’s: Les Nuits (French for “The Nights”) tomorrow night at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.  Ballet Preljocaj is France’s leading contemporary dance company. Their latest production, “Les Nuits,” is based on the much loved tales of One Thousand and One Nights. In English, the tales are often referred to as  the “Arabian Nights.” Familiar stories you may recognize from this collection are Aladdin’s Magic Lamp, The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Other than the fact that I love the ballet, I’m excited to attend this particular ballet because the costumes have been designed by well known couturier Azzedine Alaïa. In addition, The Music Center has invited two local designers, Bri Seeley and Michelle Hébert to create three looks inspired by the tales of “Les Nuits.” Here is a look at some of the designers’ sketches . . .

Ballet Preljocaj will be at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from June 20-22. Tickets are on sale now. For more information click here. or visit

See you at the ballet!!

Life in Pictures | Week of 6.7.14 . . .

Life in

Last weekend I got together with my friend Nikki who lives in Pasadena. Pasadena is one of my favorite cities in Southern California. I love the architecture, and the many large trees that line it’s streets. We spent a really fun (and hot) day at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and then headed into Old Town for a little shopping and good eats . . .

Unfortunately most vendors @ the Rose Bowl Flea Mkt don’t allow photos of their booths, so I didn’t get many photos of the wares, however, I did catch this lady mid-twerk next to this hand painted sign booth . . . #priceless

Love the brick, awning and all-over look of Old Town Music (this is actually the back of the store) . . .

It’s been a year or so since I’ve eaten at my favorite Argentinean restaurant, 1810. I dream about their empañadas. I love the interior atmosphere of this restaurant just as much as I love the food . . .

After lunch Nikki and I headed over to Crossroads Trading for some light “thrifting.” ♥

Of course I just couldn’t pass by this perfect brick, stone and birch backdrop without getting an #ootd shot for the #30daynorepeat challenge I am participating in on Instagram . . . ☺ This photo challenge is really forcing me to get comfortable in front of the camera. I prefer to stay behind it, but a challenge to my introversion is always good for growth! Lol! ☺

The kids and I spent some time at the park after school on Tuesday. I can’t believe they have just completed 2nd and 3rd grade!!! Father Time has wings . . . !

Had a brainstorming meeting on Wednesday and got to move my office outdoors. It’s so nice to have a change of scenery while working. The outdoor breeze was so calming . . .

Have you guys ever tried Boom Chicka Pop? My friend Cathy brought it over for the boys playdate on Thursday. She has been so supportive of my gluten free diet. She always comes bearing gifts and introducing me to different gluten free treats!  I love the packaging colors and typography. You can find BCP at Target . . .

Hope you guys are having a fabulous weekend. Are you ready for Father’s Day?

Werkspace Wednesdays | How to Revamp Your Workspace with Color! I recently revamped my workspace. It was a small upgrade, I just added a little color pop to the area around my desk as a way to brighten things up and get a little better organized. My thought was that if I make the space a little more inviting, it might help me to keep from piling laundry on my desk and leaving my shoes scattered on the floor around my desk chair when searching for what to wear that morning . . .  :/  #bedroomofficeproblems

Werkspace2 I also thought that if I added a pop of color to my workspace it would help to pull all of the black and white together. I love the color turquoise so I decided that that turquoise would be my main accent color and fuchsia would be my secondary accent color. I bought two turquoise faux leather trays to keep some of my supplies in. They were both under $20 each. I got one at Marshall’s and the other at Homegoods (#fabfound!). I LOVE those two stores. I always find something amazing to walk out with. Good for the home or closet, not necessarily good for the wallet, Lol! Werkspace3 I purchased a few black and white striped place mats at Ikea. I love black and white stripes. The place mats make for great tray liners. Best of all they were only $1.50 a piece! I used the other one to keep under my laptop. I like the bold pattern and contrast it brings to my desk. I’m thinking these would probably make great drawer liners as well . . .

Werkspace9 I love bulletin boards, and use them religiously. They are very helpful for keeping inspiration images, swatches and notes at hand. When I move my office space out of my bedroom, I will dedicate at least one full wall as mood board space. For now I have small framed bulletin boards, which allow me to remain mobile, in case I want to work downstairs or switch things up a bit.  I have a black one and a white one, they are both from Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby has a good art supply section and great little things for the home. (They pretty much have everything from fabric to furniture, I can easily spend hours in there…) Best of all, they have a weekly coupon that you can get through their mobile app, and online, which will give you 40% off any full price item. I already had my black bulletin board, but I found the white one on sale last week for $17 (regular price was $40!) My Massimo Vignelli Perpetual Calendar has been with me through 3 office moves. I’ve had it since before my kids were born! I love it so much. It is the definition of minimal chic as far as calendars go in my book . . . Massimo Vignelli was a design genius. He passed away last week, but his talent will live on in the beauty and simplicity of his creations. He contributed so much beauty to the world through his designs. He is the man behind the design of NYC’s subway signage, as well as the American Airline’s logo. I really love and admire his work . . .

One thing I love to do in my work area is keep pretty things around me, or things I love that make me feel good when looking at them. For instance, a pretty pair of shoes, or a scarf or even a dress! Since I work from home and my office is in my bedroom, this is not hard for me to do. Since I find that I have limited “me” time, I’ve gotten in the habit of keeping nail polish at my desk. I like the way they look when kept in pretty bowls, and keeping them nearby allows me to do quick touch ups while I am at my desk. Multi-tasking at it’s finest! When the weather is nice I like to keep the deck door open to take advantage of the summer breezes. Hanging up a pretty dress or item of clothing that I love helps to give the room a different vibe. You can do the same in your workspace. Can you think of anything  you could add to your surroundings to change up your mood?

If you are looking to revamp your workspace you can find similar items below . . .

Randomocities | It’s Officially Here . . . June!

Well, it’s offically here!  June. The month Summer begins. I love the month of June. My dad’s birthday is this month, Father’s day, the First day of Summer, Kids will be out of school in 2 weeks . . . the list goes on. I am looking forward to the change of pace around the house. But honestly, there is a bit of apprehension that goes along with Summer for me. For one, it means, ERRBODY in my household is home. Husband and kids. I work from home and having everyone at home creates another dynamic that I find hard to balance. I’ve been trying to think of ways to make things flow a little better (for everyone) around the house during summer break. I’ve been thinking that this summer, I will schedule specific work hours for myself. I am scouting good places to work from outside the home. I would love to partake in a co-working space, but I don’t want to have to drive too far to get there, and there are none in my immediate area . . . (ding! ☀Business Idea!! ☀) So it looks like I will be perusing local coffee shops and libraries. This summer I am putting the kiddies in a 1/2 day summer camp as well. They need more activities with other kids, and the opportunity to make new friends.

So how does your schedule change in the summer? Have you found a way to balance your schedule during the summer months?
