Steadily working away quietly on some new items. I’m excited to share them with you when the time is right. Hope this summer has been treating you well. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. We have been traveling and immersed in summer activities with the kiddies. The break has been good for me, but now that my brain is getting back in to work mode, I’m allowing myself to miss working, LOL. Anyway, I’m hoping the month of August has many blessings in store for you and yours!

Hey guys! How’s it going? The school year is winding down over here and I am gearing up to have a house full of people during the day while I work (my husband, daughter and son will soon be on vacation from school + work for 2 months). This happens every summer, yet I still find myself filled with excitement and apprehension at the beginning of summer every year. I don’t know why I have the apprehension….. well, yes, I do know why. It’s because everyone else in the house is free (for the most part) and I have to work. I’m used to working from the peace and quiet of my bedroom without much interruption. When everyone is home, I have a lovely soundtrack of background television noise, laughing, arguing and interruptions of ” Mom, what can I eat?” to work with. Perhaps this is more like it would be if I were working in an office . . . The boss coming in and handing out more work to do, interruptions from colleagues, a muffled soundtrack of staplers, talking and papers rustling. The only difference is I wouldn’t have to break up too many fights . . . although I guess that depends on where you work, no? Anyway, I’m trying to remind myself to stop and find the beauty in each moment as I go throughout my day. Hoping that by doing so, I will not stress so much when family things come up throughout the day. I know its a mindset, and it’s obviously one I have yet to conquer. ;)
Well, it’s offically here! June. The month Summer begins. I love the month of June. My dad’s birthday is this month, Father’s day, the First day of Summer, Kids will be out of school in 2 weeks . . . the list goes on. I am looking forward to the change of pace around the house. But honestly, there is a bit of apprehension that goes along with Summer for me. For one, it means, ERRBODY in my household is home. Husband and kids. I work from home and having everyone at home creates another dynamic that I find hard to balance. I’ve been trying to think of ways to make things flow a little better (for everyone) around the house during summer break. I’ve been thinking that this summer, I will schedule specific work hours for myself. I am scouting good places to work from outside the home. I would love to partake in a co-working space, but I don’t want to have to drive too far to get there, and there are none in my immediate area . . . (ding! ☀Business Idea!! ☀) So it looks like I will be perusing local coffee shops and libraries. This summer I am putting the kiddies in a 1/2 day summer camp as well. They need more activities with other kids, and the opportunity to make new friends.
So how does your schedule change in the summer? Have you found a way to balance your schedule during the summer months?
Yesterday we rang in summer vacation by spending time with my brother and his family @ The Four Seasons in B. Hills. There’s nothing like spending time with the ones you love. Kids had a blast, and we all created more lifetime memories. Truly a great beginning to the summer!
On a fashion note, one of my dear friends commented on my post the other day. She had a really great question that I want to share for those of you who may not know. I mentioned that for the next few weeks I would be working on tech packs for the collection, and she wanted to know what those were. A tech pack, or technical package is a compilation of all the detailed information, (ie. measurements, specifications, drawings & even pictures), you will need to create samples and manufacture the line. A tech pack usually contains a black & white flat sketch of the design with all of the measurements and information needed to make the item- in this case, a handbag. Here are a few images of some of my previous tech packs and the finished sample . . .
Well guys, I am off to celebrate the college graduation of my nephew! My, how time flies!!!! I hope you are all having a fantabulous Friday. Drink in the day and exhale it’s blessings!!! xo
SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE in our household!!!! Today is the last day of school for the biscuits. I can’t believe how fast this school year went!! I am now officially the mother of a 1st and 2nd grader!! Seems just yesterday I was pushing around that uncooperative double stroller, self-consciously hogging up aisles and running over the backs of people’s flip-flops in the mall. Yeah, you know me. I’m sure you’ve met me before. It wasn’t that I was trying to be annoying, my stroller just had a mind of its own, and try as I might, it never did comply. It was probably angry that it had to lug around that 2nd seat. Probably longed to be a one-seater. Nevertheless, it served it’s purpose, and I got my revenge when I folded it up for the last time (or tried to, it never did want to fold up without a fight) and stuffed it in my garage. Rob later donated it to one of the mothers at his school. (Poor woman, didn’t know what she was getting into. I pray she was blessed by it and left unharmed by it’s stubbornness). Anyway, today I am thankful for the start of another summer with my babies. I am ready to dive into this summer with my family. I look forward to learning, experiencing, seeing, traveling, watching, laughing and loving with my tribe.
Boy, have I been missing you guys!!! I feel I have been neglecting you, and not by choice! I have been going through a sort of “transitional” period. Both with my business and personal life. This is the last week of school for the kiddies. Yay!/Uh oh! There is a sense of excitement in the air, and also a slight apprehension on my part if I am honest with myself. I am only apprehensive because I know that my normal work day will have to adjust. Working from home is not all it’s cracked up to be. I am thankful for the opportunity, but having an actual dedicated room/office to work from is a must! Right now my bedroom is doing double time and it’s getting old real quick!!!!
But I digress, I am excited about spending unrestricted time with my family and doing fun “summer” things! This past weekend was a whirlwind. Rob ended up in the ER on Saturday night, due to a mishap with his elbow and the tooth of a 5th grader . . . Long story, but he is recovering nicely. On Sunday we went to the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) Open House. JPL specializes in robotic exploration of the solar system. We got to see 3D representations of the terrain on Mars, remote control robots that are used to scour the Mars surface and even a movie on what life is like on Mars! I did not know there was water on Mars!! Amazing universe we live in!
I am working on tech packs for my line this week. This is the part I generally do not enjoy about my job, but I have been telling myself that I actually DO enjoy this part, and guess what? . . . . its working!!!! ☺ I’m glad to be back and I hope your lives are blessing you daily.
