Steadily working away quietly on some new items. I’m excited to share them with you when the time is right. Hope this summer has been treating you well. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. We have been traveling and immersed in summer activities with the kiddies. The break has been good for me, but now that my brain is getting back in to work mode, I’m allowing myself to miss working, LOL. Anyway, I’m hoping the month of August has many blessings in store for you and yours!
Wednesday means we are half way through the week! It’s parent conference week at school for the kids. So that means a full week of 1/2 days for the kiddies. They love it, of course, but by the time I get home from dropping them off and running errands, its time to head back out to pick them up again. Translation: Mama ain’t gettin’ alot accomplished this week! I’m really trying to go with the flow, just seems there is a lot that needs to be taken care of before we get outta Dodge. Rob and I are heading up north for my annual Birthday Getaway later this week. I always look forward to and cherish these trips. It gives us a little time to reconnect and have new experiences on “foreign” soil in more relaxed atmosphere. And when we get back, guess what?! We will be hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year! I’m really looking forward to having family and friends over. I love November. This time of year just makes my heart sing.
Thank God it’s Thursday! This week seems to be flying by! My days and weeks have been so different since we started homeschooling Reston. The results of homeschooling on my son have been so wonderful in such a short period of time! It really is amazing. It’s funny, although my days are structured differently, I somehow seem to be getting it all done. It doesn’t always look pretty, and my work time is typically not structured the way I like it to be, but when I look back, I can see that I am still making progress.
Next week I will be going to Vegas for a few days to cover the MAGIC show. I’m really excited about this trip. Usually I attend MAGIC for the purposes of sourcing and networking for my own business. But this time I am attending as Press! One of my passions is discovering and promoting new and existing brands, and sharing them with you. God is putting these opportunities in my path and I am really excited to be able to pursue them!
With that said, I thought that for this Thankful Thursday, I would list a few things that I am thankful for today. I heard a man once say that a blessing is something that means something to you. I feel like I have many blessings to be thankful for. They may not seem like much to others, but I think its always good to take note, recognize and be thankful for the little things.
TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR:
Reston’s progress and witnessing the return of the joy of learning!!! Super BIG Yay!!!
My family’s health and happiness
My trip to Vegas next week and the opportunity to cover the MAGIC show
My desire + passion to design and create is returning full force. (another Super BIG Yay!!!)
Morning adventure walks with my son! (see photo above ☺ )
My marriage of 11 years. It ain’t always easy, but the hard work is so worth it!
Inside jokes and giggles with my kiddos
My mom and dad being so supportive and helpful with the kids pick ups and drop offs
Being 5 months gluten free. If someone had told me I would be GF a year ago I never would have believed them.

Hello friends + Happy Monday! Today happens to be my dear friend Loreta’s birthday. In honor of her, I am doing this post to share some of her blessed talent with you. These beautiful images were taken by Loreta of Earthtone Photography. I did an interview with her back when the blog was a newbie. God brought Loreta into my life on my son’s first day of Kindergarten. Her amazing daughter Olivia was in the same class as Reston. After dropping off our kiddies we struck up a conversation and ended up standing outside the school talking for 3 hours straight!!! Needless to say, we quickly formed a sibling-like bond. I could go on and on about the similarities we share, and the differences that make her an inspiration to me. But that is for another post. I just wanted you guys tosee how utterly talented she is. We did this photo shoot last summer. It was so much fun working with her. I have so much respect for people who photograph children + babies. It takes A LOT of patience and a great personality. Loreta has both, and she worked her magic on our shoot. It really was a joy to watch her in action. I’m super excited to be working with her again as we gear up to shoot the new handbag line in the next few weeks. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on that project. I can’t wait!!!! I also can’t wait to get these fab photos up on my walls!!! Happy Birthday Lo. You never cease to amaze me!!!!
Spring break is off to an amazing start for the kiddies. They haven’t been home much and they are loving it! Yesterday they spent the day with their cousin and had a spur of the moment sleep over. Uncle Jamahl took them to the beach late in the evening (I opted out of this adventure because it was soooo windy and cold. The thought of getting sand in the fro was extremely unappealing). He texted me back this picture and I just fell in love. I love kids. I love how cold, sleet, sandstorms, hail or thunder doesn’t mean a thing to them. They wanted to get in the water and ran straight for it. It didn’t matter that they did not have a change of clothes, that their shoes and socks would be wet, that they would be cold upon exiting the water and have to spend the rest of the evening in their underwear! I love that about children. It’s something I have to remind myself that I used to have, and can have again if I choose to let go. So that was my lesson learned yesterday.
Maybe a fro full of sand isn’t so bad after all. ☺
Well, tomorrow the kiddies are back in school. I can hardly believe it is that time of year again! This summer was a lot of fun, and although we didn’t take any trips this summer, we spent a lot of time together and it was good for my soul . . . and now, it’s back to work & school!!! I welcome the change in schedule. Not so much the drop offs and pick ups, but the routine of it all seems to have a stabilizing effect on the kiddies . . . (and the husband for that matter). Now all I need is for the weather to do a drastic 180 and drop about 40 degrees!!! Then, I will be in heaven!
