Mood Board Monday | Summer Breezes . . .

Mood Board Monday | THE LOOKBOOK PHILOSOPHY Mood Board Monday | THE LOOKBOOK PHILOSOPHY

Happy Monday everyone! I hope your weekend was grand.

In my own feeble attempt to hold on to the cooler weather a tad longer, I have created today’s Mood Board Monday palette based on some of nature’s softer, cooler tones. Although it is a cooler palette, the deep green gives it a bit of an earthy vibe, which tricks the eye into believing it is adding a little warmth. This collection of images makes me think of soft summer breezes, and time spent with friends by the lake. As we swiftly move into Spring, this palette is a great transitional colorway to incorporate into your wardrobe. Soon, we will be jumping from “transitioning” from winter to spring, directly into the heat of the summer, so enjoy it whilst you can!

Top of the mornin’ to ya! . . . Well, actually my clock is reading 12 noon, but I’ve been sitting at this desk since 5 am, and it still feels like morning! I guess that is the beauty of loving the work that you do. (It is also the beauty of the kids staying over at Grandma’s during Spring Break, but I digress . . . ) Today’s mood board was created under the theme of something I like to call . . . “Dark Glamour.” I’ve created 3 different palette choices that you can pull from the colors of this mood board. It’s always so interesting to me how, when you take into consideration: shadows, undertones, tints and hues, there are really so many different colors that make up the images we see in our daily lives.

Which palette are you drawn to?

This Mood Board Monday I am sharing more of a mood palette, rather than a collection of images. Back in the day when I had my clothing line, I used a lot of color and pattern in my designs. Now, I tend to stick to neutral colors, like black, white, gray, and creme, with a pop of color here or there. But lately (and I blame this on the sweltering heat we have been experiencing lately) I have felt a desire to add more pattern and color to my wardrobe. Warmer weather always makes me want to get a little louder with my wardrobe. This image of Nidhi Sunil caught my eye because of it’s vibrancy. I created this palette from some of the darker tones in the image. It may be color overload for a “color neutralist” like myself, but I would definitely wear a version of this outfit. The Carven skirt is calling my name . . .

Would you wear this palette?

Mood Board Monday | Hues of Neutrality . . .

I am loving these hues of neutrality. I will never tire of the color combo of black, beige, tan, creme and hunter green. Considering that it was 102 degrees today, it may or may not seem strange that my mind is on winter. Desperately wanting it to come my way, all I can do for now is dream it and will it to make an appearance sooner than later. Today’s mood board and color palette gives me that cool dawn-of-autumn feeling. I love how these colors play so nicely together and balance each other out. They remain both elegant and unassuming. This is what I would be wearing if it wasn’t 102. Dream on . . .

I love the color combination of black and muted pinks. I don’t wear much pink myself, except on the lippies, but I do love the color when paired with black. I guess, for me, it takes some of the “sweet” girly away and gives her a little edge, which is the way I prefer most things. You might not think of a color palette involving black and white as a bright palette, but as you can see, there is definitely a lot of cheeriness here. I love this palette for all seasons. It also makes a great transitional palette for fall.

Are these colors you would incorporate into your wardrobe?
