Let’s Talk:: What’s Your Style Philosophy? Pt. 1

This quote from Anna Wintour pretty much sums up the core of my style philosophy. I’m big on maintaining individuality. I think the beauty of humanity is that we were created as unique individuals, and it completely undermines God’s creativity when we all end up looking the same. I find it interesting when I’m shopping or out and about with friends, and someone picks up an item and says “This reminds me of you.” To me that means there is something identifiable about my style that she has picked up on. Style is personal for me. It’s something I take time to curate. Something that I enjoy creating. It is a tactile extension of my personality that helps to visually define who I am to the outside world. That’s why I love this quote so much, it succinctly defines my style philosophy. It speaks to the creativity of personal style, the uniqueness of making it our own, and the identities we create or enhance through our choice of dress.

Love this! I agree. I know that there are general trends people follow, but I don’t think we should compare ourselves to others or completely copy another person’s style. My style philosophy would be to remain true to myself with all my style choices. I hope my style is identifiable to others, but if it’s not, at least I am doing what makes me happy!

I think that is key Gaby! Doing what feels right to you and what makes you feel good, that makes for a great style philosophy! Sometimes it’s hard to branch out and do or wear things without concern for what others think, but when we can truly follow our own vision, it makes life a lot more interesting!

This was really tough for me I actually had to confer with friends because my style has/is/ and will continue changing day by day. However, I have deemed it “surprisingly frugal”. My style changes with this wind…or rather with the sales. I don’t own a single piece of clothing over $15 (most of which is in the $5 range) but I’d like to think I pull it off nicely.

It’s okay for your style to change! that is a part of living life, growing, experiencing and being exposed to different things. In part 2. of my Style Philosophy series, I am going to discuss the elements of personal style. I have gone through many style phases myself. My style is ever evolving also, but there are some elements that remain the same throughout. I will discuss those and you can look to see if there are any elements that carry over in your style choices. “Surprisingly frugal” is a great description of your style buying habits. It also speaks to the major influences of fast fashion in our society. Your style philosophy is more what you believe style to be, where you think it comes from and how you achieve it. Thanks for sharing your answer, and I would agree that you pull of “Surprisingly Frugal” quite well!!! ☺

I don’t think I have a style philosophy due to …. well, whatever.. but I recently purchased an outfit that makes me really feel like me. It’m going to wear it to my first blogging conference so that people really understand who I am.
